Fair Food Price Monitor About
The Fair Food Price Monitor (FFPM) is a food price analysis tool, enabling users to track the relationship between food prices at different stages of the value chain, and to explore the causes of price variations.

The FFPM was developed by Consumers International (the membership organisation for consumer groups worldwide), with technical support from the Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP), to facilitate rapid food price analysis in response to the threat of anti-competitive practices.

Users are invited to input data on food prices at retail, wholesale, and/or farmgate levels, based on which the tool will generate analysis indicating whether these prices appear to be diverging excessively. Users can also input data on domestic fuel prices and currency exchange rates, to receive further analysis on potential explanations for this divergence.

Users should recognise that a significant divergence between prices is not necessarily an indication of unfair pricing or anti-competitive practices, but rather a warning sign that requires further investigation. Additionally, that accurate analysis is dependent on the inputting of reliable price data.

Further information on the concept of ‘fair food prices’ can be found here.
